Beaches
When one is reflecting on Spain, the first thought doubtless will be of sun, sea and sand. The Costa Blanca conforms perfectly to this picture almost throughout the year. It is therefore that many European pensionados are staying here in winter season, due to its pleasant climate and healthy air. Because especially many elderly people are visiting this area during this season the reduced mobility is taken into account in almost all areas. Most beaches in the vicinity are also accessible to wheelchair users via wooden paths and special parking areas for disabled persons are close to the beach Often a beach wheelchair is available at almost every beach and free to use. Moreover, people are always very helpful if you do experience an obstacle.
Recommended beaches for wheelchair users:
- Cala Moraig (Cumbre del Sol): a beach at the foot of high cliffs lending it a rough appearance; disabled parking areas and wheelchair available; own beach tent, intimate and not too crowdy.
- Platja de l’Arenal (Javea): large sandy beach with wide promenade and wheelchair accessible cozy eating places. In the evening strolling enjoyably along the promenade.
- El Portet (Moraira): small, intimate beach with paved walking path with benches.
- Cala Advocat (Benissa): small, intimate beach on the road from Moraira towards Calpe. You just have to find out exactly where it is. Has a parking place with a small pier, suitable to wheelchair users.
